Dear Veronica,
     My little granddaughter, Kristin, from birth has had a very large hole in her heart which never got any better. The doctors, after many examinations and heart catherizations, told her parents that this summer the child would need open heart surgery.
     The hole in her heart was first detected when she was two weeks old. For a time, she had to take heart medication. When she was six months old, and again when she was two and a half, she had to go into the hospital and undergo heart catherizations along with other tests. Every six months, she had to go to the doctor's office and have EKG's done and other examinations. During these years she wasn't growing much in size, and throughout all this, there was never once any sign of improvement.
     About a month ago, I gave my daughter-in-law a blessed rose petal, and told here to put it under the child's mattress. I also told her to believe and to pray. In the meantime, I prayed for her and sent her name in my petition for her cure, hopefully without the surgery, to the Shrine, to be placed on the altar at the vigil.
      Today the child was to go in for her heart checkup and a date was to be set for the surgery. To the doctor's amazement, he discovered the hold was closing up and therefore would not need the surgery this year. She had also grown two inches in a six month period. After this length of time, he said, it rarely happens that the hold would begin to close up. But he said it definitely was closing up!
     I cannot tell you how excited I was to hear this news. I couldn't wait to give you this testimony.
     I am so grateful to Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother. I believe that only through Their graces and the rose petals is our granddaughter being cured.
