Stalin's instigation of World War II, and the "Unknown Light" predicted at Fatima

"O My children of the United States, do you not understand what is ahead for you? Your country, the United States, has not known what it is to suffer through destructive forces. My children, you shall not escape the destruction that the Bear of communism has set upon many countries in Europe and the world. You cannot compromise your Faith to save what there is left, for everything upon earth shall fall as rubble with the Chastisement. A ball of fire, a chastisement, a baptism of fire, is heading for mankind. Can you not understand?" - Our Lady, November 20, 1978

On July 13, 1917 Our Lady of Fatima predicted that World War II would result if Her requests were not heeded:

"You have seen hell, where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to My Immaculate Heart.
"If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end, but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out in the reign of Pius XI.
"When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that it is the great sign given you by God that He is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine and persecutions of the Church and the Holy Father.
"To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of reparation on the First Saturdays.
"If My requests are heeded, Russia will be converted and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated.
"In Portugal, the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved, etc.…" [The Third Secret enters here]
"In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to Me, and she will be converted, and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world."

On June 13, 1929, as Sister Lucy was prostrated in prayer making a holy hour, Our Lady of Fatima appeared to her and said:

"The moment has come in which God asks the Holy Father to make, in union with all the bishops of the world, the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart, promising to save it by this means. So numerous are the souls which the justice of God condemns for sins committed against Me, that I come to ask for reparation. Sacrifice yourself for this intention and pray."

Two years later in August 1931, Jesus told Sister Lucy that Pope Pius XI had attached no importance to the command. He had not obeyed.

"Make it known to My ministers, given that they follow the example of the King of France in delaying the execution of My command, they will follow him into misfortune. It is never too late to have recourse to Jesus and Mary."

In another communication, Jesus told Sister Lucy:

"They did not wish to heed My request! ... Like the King of France they will repent of it, and they will do it, but it will be late. Russia will have already spread its errors in the world, provoking wars and persecutions against the Church. The Holy Father will have much to suffer."

By September 1, 1939, Hitler had invaded Poland. Great Britain and France declared war against Germany, and World War II officially began. Had Pope Pius XI consecrated Russia in 1929 and the Catholic world heeded the Fatima message, Russia would have been converted, communism would have ended, and God would have bestowed peace upon the world. The horrors of World War II would not have happened and global communist conquest would have halted in 1929.

It would have been a much different, much better world.

The "unknown light" of January 25, 1938

The "unknown light" that Our Lady of Fatima prophesied occurred on the night of January 25, 1938.

This light was seen throughout Europe: in England, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, and Gibraltar. It was seen also in North Africa, in the United States and elsewhere.

It appeared as a red, motionless glow, so intense that some thought the very sky was on fire.

One report in France stated, "In the streets there is panic. 'Paris is on fire!' In several villages of the province firemen are mobilized… An immense blood-red glow was extending over the sky…" (The Whole Truth About Fatima, Vol. II, Brother Michael of the Holy Trinity, p. 671)

A report from Tunisia described the phenomenon: "The natives, who were very frightened, saw in it a warning of the divine wrath; the Europeans believed it was a huge, distant fire." (The Whole Truth About Fatima, Vol. II, Brother Michael of the Holy Trinity, p. 673)

An astronomer described that the phenomenon could even be heard: "The astronomer, Carl Stromer, reports that one of his correspondents in Norway, at the station of Njuke Mountain [Tuddal], signaled to him that he had heard noises 'while the aurora was at its height and the sky seemed to be an ocean of flames … The observer and his assistant heard a curious sound coming from above them … which lasted about ten minutes, rose to a maximum and then vanished, following the fluctuations of the aurora's intensity. This sound, which resembled the crackle of burning grass, was perceived in the same region, in the Tuddal valley, by Mr. Oysteim Reisjaa.'" (The Whole Truth About Fatima, Vol. II, Brother Michael of the Holy Trinity, pp. 674-675)

The brilliance of the light cast a red glow upon observers, and had the brightness of dawn. Animals responded to the event as well. Dogs began barking wildly, roosters began crowing, thinking dawn was approaching.

The "Rokovsky interview"

The very night of the "unknown light" a pivotal event simultaneous occurred. It is known as the "Rakovsky interview", and its implications change the common narrative on the start of World War II.

Christian Rakovsky was one of the many communist leaders that Stalin targeted for execution. With a death sentence on his head, Rakovsky sought to save his life by offering Stalin a plan. He is reported to have said to his captors: ". . . if you interview me tonight, you will not kill me." Stalin took the bait and ordered his chief interrogator, Gavriil G. Kusmin, to interview Rakovsky.

The content of this interview was preserved by Dr. J. Landowsky, a medical doctor and expert in drugs, which made him useful to Stalin for interrogations. Dr. Landowsky was fluent in French and the interview of Rakovsky was conducted in French, so that the Russian guards would not know the subject of the interrogation. Dr. Landowsky translated the interview back into Russian for Stalin.

Rakovsky told his interrogator, Kusmin, that Stalin should make a Hitler-Stalin pact, which would include a joint German/Soviet invasion and division of conquered Poland.

Part of this scheme would be obtaining, at a later date, all sorts of material aid from the United States.

Rakovsky explained that when Hitler invades Poland the democracies will declare war on Hitler, eventually removing Germany as a military power.

Rakovsky also said that in the confusion of the war, Stalin could take over Europe. It should be noted that Diana West pointed out in her book, American Betrayal, that General Eisenhower--against General George Patton's objections--stopped his soldiers at the Elbe River, allowing Stalin to take Eastern Germany.

But Kusmin wanted some sort of proof that Rakovsky's incredibly ambitious plan could work. Rakovsky told Kusmin to ask the U.S. Ambassador to Russia, Joseph E. Davies, who would confirm what Rakovsky had said.

So Kusmin went to Stalin and then U.S. Ambassador Davies, who confirmed everything that Rakovsky had said.

Dr. Landowsky, the doctor who prepared Rakovsky for the interview, recorded what Kusmin later told him:

"Do you remember the conversation with Rakovsky.... Do you know that he was not condemned to death? Well knowing all this you need not be surprised that Comrade Stalin had thought it to be wise to try that apparently so unlikely plan….."

No Hitler/Stalin Pact, no World War II

Deirdre Manifold helped publicize details of the Rakovsky interview in her book Towards World Government: New World Order. She is among several authors who insist that without the Hitler/Stalin Pact that resulted from the Rakovsky interview, World War II would not have taken place:

"Now more than fifty years later, the world media keeps up the illusion that Hitler was solely responsible for starting World War II. While plans were in motion to bring about the war by one means or another, the [Rakovsky interrogation shows] beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the war was triggered by the proposals set out by Rakovsky and accepted by Stalin. In return for the Plan, Rakovsky managed to save his life . . ."

Accounting for time zone differences, Deidre Manifold emphasizes the extraordinary timing between the "unknown light" and the Rakovsky interrogation:

"The exact timing of the questioning is significant. It took place from midnight to 6 A.M. on the night of January 25-26, 1938. It is important to note that Moscow time is three hours ahead of Western European time. As reported in the daily press all over Western Europe, and in the New York Times on January 26, 1938, a strange bright light lit up the sky all across Europe from 6:30 to 9:30 P.M. on the previous evening. This would have been between 9:30 P.M. and 12:30 A.M. Moscow time. The serious questioning of Rakovsky began at about 12:30 A.M. Moscow time.

"When the bright light shone in the sky, Sister Lucia, the Fatima seer, in her convent in Spain, let it be known that this was the sign given by God, and foretold by Our Lady of Fatima on July 13, 1917, that a major war would soon occur."

Brother Michael of the Holy Trinity

Brother Michael of the Holy Trinity, author of the monumental multi-volume series The Whole Truth About Fatima, is another author who believes Stalin instigated World War II.  Bro. Michael states:

"Bolshevik Russia was not only the great beneficiary of this atrocious war, but it was also the most effective active accomplice of the Nazis, and even instigated the war." (The Whole Truth About Fatima, Vol. II, Brother Michael of the Holy Trinity, p. 690)

Double-crossing by Stalin

In a strategically monumental blunder, British and French delegates on August 19, 1939 confirmed to Stalin that if Germany invaded Poland, Great Britain and France would declare war against Germany. If Stalin could lure Hitler into attacking Poland, Stalin would have the war that he wanted:

"Stalin’s cynical double-crossing is well known. On August 23, 1939, while the English and French military delegations were still at Moscow, the Germano-Soviet non-aggression pact had been signed. Hitler had accepted all of Stalin’s demands. Stalin was to receive his share of the dismemberment of Poland, along with the Baltic states in the north and Bessarabia in the south. With reason do Heller and Nekrich write: The conclusion of the accords with Hitler’s Germany crowned Stalin’s efforts to forge a Soviet-German alliance… “It is difficult to overestimate the international importance of the Soviet-German pact ”, Molotov declared on August 31, 1939. “It is a turning point in the history of Europe and not just of Europe.” (The Whole Truth About Fatima, Vol. II, Brother Michael of the Holy Trinity, p. 693)

Hitler had already decided to invade Austria in January 1938

Bro. Michael reveals the fact that Hitler had already decided to invade Austria in January 1938, the same month as the "unknown light" which was the predicted sign of World War II.  The invasion of Austria was likewise during the reign of Pius XI:

"… when the columns of the Wehrmacht entered Austria on March 12, 1938, Hitler’s decision had already been made. If it were necessary, he would launch an all-out war. « In his discourse to the Reichstag on January 30, 1939, the Fuhrer declared that he had decided on the invasion of Austria in January of 1938, and the invasion of Bohemia on May 28, 1938. » Thus it can be said in all truth that the Second World War began under Pius XI. The nocturnal aurora of January 25, 1938, did indeed correspond to a decisive stage in the unfolding of the war." (The Whole Truth About Fatima, Vol. II, Brother Michael of the Holy Trinity, p. 697)

Viktor Suvorov

Thanks to Diana West, I was able to find even more information on Stalin's instigation of World War II after reading this paragraph in American Betrayal:

"It is a particularly stubborn narrative, as [Viktor] Suvorov himself discovered when he first defected in 1978, primarily, he said, to publish evidence of his groundbreaking theory that, far from being duped by Hitler, Stalin had supported and wooed Hitler as part of his own long-range strategy of Communist conquest; further, that history concealed Stalin's responsibility for starting World War II." (Diana West, p. 253)

Viktor Suvorov was a former Soviet army intelligence officer. His book, The Chief Culprit: Stalin's Grand Design to Start World War II, has some great historical insights. He rejects the historical propaganda that Stalin was duped by Hitler and insists that the opposite was actually the truth. Stalin was arming for a major war against Europe and Germany, which was eventually discovered by Hitler's intelligence services. That is the main reason why Hitler attacked Russia in 1941. Hitler admitted Stalin's military strength in an October 3, 1941 radio address: "Only now did we realize how well the Russians had been prepared for war."

Surovov's understanding of communism allows him to cut through much of the propaganda that Westerners easily accept. He warns that conventionally-accepted Soviet/Russian history must be understood differently:

"I consider the Soviet Union a criminal conglomerate. The Soviet leaders have committed uncountable acts of atrocity against their own people and against neighboring nations. That is why for me the history of the Soviet Union should be studied using methods of criminology and intelligence rather than classical scientific research." (Suvorov, p. xxi)

Stalin's role in aiding Germany's war power

Russia was not a signer of the Versailles Treaty, which enabled them to build any weapon or military technology that they saw fit. Germany, however, had signed the Treaty. So, relying on Russia's freedom to produce weapons and military technology, Germany signed a series of agreements with Russia allowing them to start rebuilding their war machine:

"On November 26, 1922, an agreement about the production of metal airplanes and plane engines was signed with the German aviation firm Junkers Flugzeugwerke. It was this agreement with Junkers that paved the way for large-scale Soviet-German military cooperation. In July 1923 two new agreements were set out: one was about the production of munitions and military equipment and the other about the construction of a chemical plant." (Suvorov, p. 17)

German Luftwaffe born in Soviet town of Lipetsk

"On April 15, 1925, an agreement was signed about the creation of a secret air force center in the Russian city of Lipetsk for training German military pilots…. By the end of 1933, the school had prepared 450 fighter pilots, air reconnaissance observers, and members of bomber squads…. It is safe to say that the Luftwaffe (the German air force) was born in the Soviet town of Lipetsk. Nobody was supposed to know that Stalin was preparing Germany for a new world war." (Suvorov, p. 17)

Tank training for the Germans

Stalin provided tank training for the Germans as well:

"Stalin understood that the new war would not only be an air war, but a tank war as well. Therefore, he gave particular attention to preparing German Panzer corps. In 1926, near the Soviet city of Kazan, a tank school for the Reichswehr was created. German tankers wore Soviet uniforms there. Stalin fully equipped future German Panzer generals: he gave them tanks, fuel, ammunition, transport, housing, repair facilities, and a gigantic well-guarded weapons range--to create, to invent, to test." (Suvorov, p. 18)

Stalin supplied Hitler with raw materials needed for war

Not only did Stalin provide military training and weapons to the Germans, but the raw materials needed to make war:

"Without Stalin's 'neutrality' toward Hitler, without Soviet petroleum, chrome, tin, nickel, platinum, iron ore, cotton, grain, manganese, copper, vanadium, molybdenum, and tungsten, Hitler could not have unleashed the war in Europe." (Suvorov, p. 181)

Suvorov put it well: Hitler "demanded arms. Stalin put a sword in his hands." (Suvorov, p. 21) In 1926, Stalin had already declared that World War II was inevitable when he said, "There can be no doubt that a war in Europe will start and they will all fight in it."

Stalin's double-dealings

Stalin was playing Hitler right from the beginning. He was on one hand talking with Great Britain and France about containing Hitler, while at the same time signing a pact with Hitler to invade Poland:

"On August 12, 1939, the military delegations of the USSR, Great Britain, and France began talks in Moscow. Stalin's Marshal Voroshilov openly conducted with France and Britain the talks on 'containing Hitler's aggression in Europe.'… Stalin showed the world his willingness to stop Hitler's aggression, but simultaneously (and even beforehand) offered the German dictator a friendly and helping hand." (Suvorov, p. 108)

Key to igniting World War II fell into Stalin's hands

On August 11, 1939, British and French delegations arrived in Moscow to talk about joint action against Hitler.  From this meeting Stalin knew beforehand the consequences of Germany invading Poland. He knew definitively that if Poland was invaded, Great Britain and France would declare war against Germany. All Stalin had to do was coax Hitler to cross that line:

"Stalin knew that Great Britain and France had given their guarantees to Poland. But how serious was their word? The French and British delegations let him know that it was serious! If Hitler started a war against Poland, Great Britain and France would declare war against Germany. This was exactly the information Stalin was waiting for. Hitler thought that his invasion of Poland would go unpunished, like the entrance of German troops into the Rhineland demilitarized zone, like the Anschluss (union) of Austria and Germany, like the taking of Czechoslovakia. Stalin now knew that Hitler would be punished for invading Poland. The key to the ignition of World War II fell into Stalin's hands. It remained for Stalin only to give Hitler the green light: Attack Poland, I will not act against you (but France and England will declare war on you)." (Suvorov, p. 108)

Suvorov emphasizes that World War II was a "direct and unavoidable result" of the pact between Germany and the Soviet Union:

"On August 23, 1939, Germany and the Soviet Union signed an agreement in Moscow about the destruction of the Polish state and the division of the Polish territories. Poland had mutual assistance agreements with France and the United Kingdom and, therefore, the attack by the Soviet Union and Germany automatically led to a European--and hence world--war. Indeed, in eight days, on September 1, 1939, World War II broke out. It was a direct and unavoidable result of the agreement reached in Moscow." (Suvorov, p. 111)

One of Stalin's generals, Ivashutin, also credits the pact with Hitler as being the catalyst for World War II:

"The head of the GRU, Army General P.I. Ivashutin, expressed this sentiment more clearly: 'With this pact, Hitler untied his hands for aggression.' Simply stated, if Stalin had not signed a pact with Hitler, there would have been no invasion of Poland, and there would have been no World War II." (Suvorov, p. 108)

Stalin tricked Hitler

Only eight days after signing the pact, Stalin broke it. All the blame for World War II would fall on Hitler, even though it was Stalin who lured Hitler into invading Poland:

"Both parties received approximately equivalent shares--part of Poland went to Hitler, the other part went to Stalin. However, just eight days after signing the Moscow pact, Stalin violated it. Hitler started a war of aggression against Poland with hope that his ally Stalin would do the same. But Stalin cheated Hitler. On September 1, and in the subsequent two weeks the Soviet troops stood next to the Polish borders without conducting warfare and crossing the borders. The explanation of the Soviet government to the German counterpart was: the time has not come yet for action by the Red Army. As a result, the entire fault for the beginning of the war fell upon Germany, upon Hitler and his entourage. They entered world history as the chief and only cause of World War II." (Suvorov, p. 111)

A war Stalin had planned for

The evil strategic brilliance of Stalin was underestimated. Hitler, Churchill, Roosevelt, all were duped, and all contributing unwittingly to the increase of Stalin's power and reach of his communist empire.

Stalin used Hitler and Roosevelt as stepping stones:

"As a result of the pact signed in Moscow in 1939 Stalin achieved a war, one which he desired and for which he had planned and prepared for a long time. The nations of Western Europe were mired in a destructive war, but the Soviet Union remained neutral. Now Stalin could wait for the total exhaustion and self-destruction of Central and Western Europe. Hitler guessed Stalin's intentions and in 1941 suddenly and almost fatally struck the Soviet Union. In this critical situation, Stalin received free aid from the United States and Great Britain, which in volume and quality did not have a historical precedent. At the same time, the Soviet role in unleashing World War II was quickly and thoroughly forgotten." (Suvorov, p. 113)

On July 13, 1917, even before the Russian revolution, Our Lady of Fatima prophesied that Russia "will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church."

Is World War II on that long list?

Lenin and Stalin are not with Us. They were cast off to meet with their god, the prince of darkness, satan. It behooves Me to say, and it tears My heart in anguish, that they did not seek to be saved." - Our Lady, June 18, 1992

"Russia has but one plan: to capture the whole world. They will do this without heart or conscience. Therefore, know that I ask you again, as your God in the Trinity, I ask you to contact the Holy Father—through pen or prose, or the written script——to contact the Holy Father and beg him to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of My Mother. This has not been done, My children." - Jesus, May 17, 1986
